Look for Magdalene and members of Diva Soma on WOWT's "Heartland Focus" on Saturday, March 17th at 12:30 p.m. We will be talking about the Nebraska Bellydance Spectacular and bellydance in general.

It also looks like we may have a slot in the Mid-day show on Monday, March 19th!

Jafar, the proprietor, says after seven years in the biz, he's tired of the long days. If he can manage to sell it to someone before Saturday, only then will it stay open.

Bellydance show to feature Rania & local performers

Hi, there! Just wanted to let everyone know that my troupe, Diva Soma will be hosting Rania this weekend for a workshop and show.

The workshop is for women who've had a few bellydance classes or otherwise familiar with bellydance movement. It will be at UNOmaha's Fine Arts Theater, with registration beginning at 9 a.m. Cost is $70 at the door. Rania will teach a comparison/contrast between the Turkish & Egyptian styles in the morning and a drum solo choreography in the afternoon.

The show, "Casbah on the Prairie", will feature many of the workshop students and performances by Rania. It is at the Strauss Performing Arts Center, also on the UNOmaha campus at 7 p.m. Cost is $12/Adult, $9 ages 13-18, Free for children under 13.

Programmer-Analyst Looking For Work

OK, I’ve tried listings, but haven’t gotten a lot of results. So, I’m going to try posting this to a few tribes, and see if the results improve. I am an experienced Programmer/Programmer-Analyst looking for work. Strong preference for remaining in the Omaha, Nebraska/Council Bluffs, Iowa area, but I might consider relocation for the right offer. A brief description of my skill set follows. 9 years of IT experience. Strong mainframe programming skills including COBOL, Assembler, CICS, DB2, MVS JCL, CA-IDEAL, and IMS. I also know some Visual Basic. Expert trouble-shooter. Experience with system design.

Storm damage

Is everyone okay? No major damage here in Hastings from tonight's storms, but Pauline (a little town 12 miles south) got smacked around by a tornado. Driving through on a highway known as Showboat Road, we saw a smashed grain bin on the shoulder, as well as downed trees, twisted signs, and mangled irrigation pipes.

I wasn't able to capture many storm structure photos from here, but I've uploaded the two best ones into my album. The "Juice" picture shows moisture rushing east-southeast toward the monster squall line (the dark sky in the background). I've never seen a thunderstorm as electrically active as this one. I couldn't count all the cloud-to-cloud flashes. By a conservative estimate, I'm guessing 12-20 per second!

Scary. Hope everyone is alright.

If you have alot of snow and ice building up in your wheel-wells of your car. Use "Pam Cooking Spray"! Just spray in the wheel-wells to stop the build-up.
